Camp Seebert,  Company 1535, SP-1

Camp Seebert, CCC Company 1535, was established at Watoga, on the Greenbrier River near today's site of Cabins # 1 and # 2 of Watoga State Park. Designated as SP-1, Company 1535 helped to develop the park with roads, bridges and cabin construction.  The men  of Camp Seebert also built the superintendant's quarters and a visitors'  center/administration building. Company 1535 also operated the Current Run Ferry across the river for guests and workers going back and forth to the park.

Unfortunately,  this CCC company of men was not present for the formal opening of the park to witness the initial public use of the fruits of their hard labor.  According to the CCC District newspaper, the park was opened in July of 1937, just 4 months after this CCC Company was discontinued and disbanded.
